Power Over Ethernet

Power over Ethernet technology allows IP telephones, wireless LAN Access Points, Security network cameras and other IP-based terminals to receive power as well as data over existing LAN cabling, without needing to modify the existing Ethernet infrastructure. PoE delivers 48v of DC power over unshielded twisted-pair wiring for terminals consuming less than 13 watts of power.

There are two type of PSE devices (Power Sourcing Equipment) which can provide power to the Powered Device (PD); a Power over Ethernet Midspan hub, ideal for use with legacy non PoE switches, and switches with integrated PoE. Both product types are listed below.
